Story: L’Oréal’s major focus on sustainability at Expo culminates today at the World Green Economy Summit on site at the ground-breaking Dubai event.

Taking centre-stage at the two-day Summit, the leading regional event on the road to COP26, will be Alexandra Palt, an Executive Vice-President at L’Oréal, their Chief Corporate Responsibility Officer and one of the corporate world’s leading sustainability experts.

In her ten years at L’Oréal, Palt has driven the sustainability programs that have reshaped the business model at the world’s leading beauty company.

At Expo L’Oréal has already made two significant announcements in their drive to increased sustainability.

At the core of their Hairstylists for the Future Concept Salon, they have revealed new industry-changing shower-head technology that will reduce water consumption in salons by up to 65%, while also giving customers a new sensory experience. Developed in partnership with Swiss start-up, Gjosa, and inspired by the power and efficiency of geysers, the jet-fusion technology splits the water by creating micro-drops at increased speed.

Garnier, a key part of the L’Oréal Group and the world’s number one natural brand in the mass beauty market, have launched a major collaboration to produce content with National Geographic CreativeWorks. This is the latest step in Garnier’s Green Beauty campaign to encourage and empower 250 million people to live greener lives by 2025.

In addition, L’Oréal’s luxury Kiehl’s brand have used Expo to unveil their Refill-A-Bottle initiative which offers consumers the opportunity to save considerable amounts of plastic by replenishing their product in store.

These initiatives are just small parts of L’Oréal’s ongoing radical transformation plan – L’Oréal for the Future - which is ensuring the world’s biggest beauty company’s activities (7 billion products sold annually) will be aligned with the limits of the planet by 2030.

By 2030, via the adoption of a ‘Green Sciences’ approach to research and innovation, L’Oréal aims for 100% of all ingredients in formula to be bio-based, derived from abundant minerals or from circular processes. Currently L’Oréal use 1,600 raw materials from nearly 350 species of plants in their products.
